Fotheringham No.2 at Hertha

-

Ex-Livingston midfielder Mark Fotheringham has been named assistant boss of German giants Hertha Berlin.

The 38-year-old will be the right-hand man for new boss Felix Magath, who he worked with at Fulham.

Hertha are currently sitting in the relegation zone in Germany’s top flight with eight games left in the season.

Fotheringham had two spells as a player with Livi.

He became a firm fans’ favourite after playing for the club for free during his first spell in 2011, during which he made 12 appearances.

He joined the club for a second time in 2016 when he became David Hopkin’s first signing as Livi boss.

However, he was unable to prevent them from suffering relegation to League One that season.

The former Celtic and Scotland under-21 midfielder has spent most of his coaching career in

Germany, where he spent a brief spell during his playing days.

Since hanging up his boots, he has spent time on the coaching staff at both Karlsruhe and Ingolstadt under Tomas Oral – who was Magath’s assistant at Fulham during Fotheringham’s playing days at the London club.
