Double figure delight for Brox

- League Cup

BROXBURN ATHLETIC ............ 10 CRAIGROYSTON .......................... 2

Broxburn Athletic kicked off their League Cup campaign in style as they hit double figures at home to Craigroyston.

Remarkably given the final score, the Brox didn’t open their account until the 35th minute when Jackson Barker fired home.

That sparked a stunning 10 minute spell in which the hosts found the net on five occasions.

Gordon Donaldson and Andy Mair got on the scoresheet before Ross Nimmo made it four with a penalty.

Greg Nicol got in on the action as he slammed home a fifth for the Brox before the half-time whistle to put the game firmly to bed.

The visitors pulled one back just before the hour mark that was replied to almost immediately by Nimmo who slotted home from the spot once more.

A rapid double from Mair on the 67th and 68th minute ensured he got the match ball before Craigroyston replied once more to make it 8-2 with 20 minutes remaining.

Skipper Shaun Harrison made it nine for Athletic before Barker finished off a remarkable afternoon with his second and Broxburn’s 10th to seal an emphatic three points in front of a delighted Albyn Park crowd.
