The path linking AlmondelI with Mid Calder remains temporaril­y closed to allow for constructi­on works at Mid Calder weir where a new fish pass is being created. This route also forms part of National Cycle Network 75. Diversion for both pedestrian­s and cyclists is via road and pavement between Mid Calder and East Calder and has been signposted by Sustrans with yellow diversion signs. Works are progressin­g but have been subject to delay due to inclement weather but will hopefully be open towards the end of May 2022.

THE KIRK OF CALDER GUILD

are holding a coffee morning on Saturday 9th April in the Glenalmond Hall from 10:30 am till 12noon. There will be a tombola and teas and coffees ( no home baking).

hold their meetings in the Glenalmond Hall on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month in the afternoons from 2pm - 4pm. The group’s next meeting will be held on Thursday 14th April and the topic is Keep Fit.

MID CALDER GALA WEEK

will run from Sunday 29th May to Saturday 4th June and the theme is Lockdown Heroes. What got you through lockdown? For the kids it could be any number of things, favourite TV show, film, book, Zoom Xbox, Playstatio­n, Nintendo, family and friends, teachers, the list goes on. We had the NHS, Police and Fire Brigade. Lorry, bus and delivery drivers. Care workers and shop assistants. The Gala theme this year is to reflect these heroes and especially the kids of Mid Calder.

AT THE ROOT THEATRE

is a theatre company working across West Lothian with children, young people and adults and run drama workshops for 3-18 year olds. They are looking to potentiall­y start some workshop groups in Mid Calder in August 2022, probably on a Friday evening. The group are looking to ascertain if this is something that the local community would be interested in for their children / young people? CHANGE TO EASTER HOLIDAY MID CALDER TODDLERS

will close after the Easter Party on Friday 1st April and will reopen on Tuesday 19th April.

MID CALDER BABY AND TODDLER GROUP

meets in the Institute Hall on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 11.30pm. Cost of a session is £1 for under 1’s and £2 for 1 and over. Older children will be given a snack and there is tea/ coffee available for adults. It is up to the parents to set up and then put away toys and make sure the hall is left clean and tidy - this is very important due to Covid. MID CALDER GALA PARADE

will take place at 1pm on Saturday 4th June 2022. This year’s theme is lockdown superheroe­s, so there’s lots of options. If you wish to walk with The Toddler Group in this year’s gala day you need to meet at Sommers Park Mid Calder at 12.30pm. Names will be taken nearer the time for both the parade and gala bags. You do not have to live in Mid Calder to take part in the parade.
