A West Lothian head teacher who was awarded an OBE thanks to her hard work and dedication to teaching youngsters is getting ready to relax after retiring.
Knightsridge Primary School said a fond and heartfelt farewell on April 1 to their much-loved and highly respected head teacher, Mrs Allison Kennedy.
Mrs Kennedy has worked as the head in Knightsridge Primary School and Early Years Centre for nine years and has had a huge impact on the lives of many children, parents and teachers. During these years Mrs Kennedy has led the school passionately by instilling in all the children aspirations to live out their school vision and values to “be the best they can be”, to be kind, to persevere in order to succeed.
She, and her staff and children, have enjoyed many successes over the years including winning many awards for their relentless, robust approach to raising attainment for all, especially in literacy.
A spokesperson for the school said: “In 2019, the school won the National Literacy Award for their hard work and commitment to raising standards in reading and writing.
“Knightsridge Primary School was also the first school in West Lothian to be awarded the Scottish Book Trust Reading Accreditation award at Gold standard.
“More recently, Mrs Kennedy’s assiduous approach, hard work and commitment was recognised as she was awarded an OBE for her services to education.
“We were all very proud of her! “The children have been at the heart of all of Mrs Kennedy’s work and she has demonstrated her passion and love for the children in her care by going above and beyond on many occasions.
“The staff, parents and pupils of Knightsridge Primary School and Early Years Centre, want to wish Mrs Kennedy a very happy and peaceful retirement.
“She leaves a little piece of herself in our hearts and has our love and gratitude for making the school the wonderful learning community that it is today.”
