INTERGENER­ATIONAL CHURCH

A different start to a Sunday Strathbroc­k and Uphall South Churches are joining in a grand new adventure, called ‘The Early Service’ – an intergener­ational service where we worship God together through songs, prayer, conversati­ons, questions, and activities that involves ALL AGES – Every Sunday at 9.30am in Uphall South Church Hall. We kick off Sunday, April 17 with an Easter Celebratio­n. Come and see what it is all about!

WEST LOTHIAN U3A

All being well, the April meeting will be held at Uphall Community Centre on Wednesday April 20 at 2pm. If you are planning to attend, we ask you to take a Lateral Flow Test that morning and only come if it is negative.

The speaker will be Maria Chester, an Argentinia­n born art historian and member of East Berwickshi­re u3a. Maria will talk about Bonampak, the Sistine chapel of the Mayans. Some members were impressed when they attended her session at the u3a in Scotland online Summer programme in 2021. THIS WILL NOT BE A HYBRID MEETING.

Pie, Pea & Bingo nights have now resumed in the club on the last Thursday of the month 7pm for 7.30pm start. £1 admission.

CARERS OF WEST LOTHIAN

Run two monthly social groups for disabled adults living in West Lothian. The evening group runs on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6-7pm and the morning group, on the 4th Tuesday of the month from 10.30-11.30am.

They are using zoom to run these groups while there’s social-distancing restrictio­ns in place.

Normally, the evening group meet in Bathgate and the morning group, in Livingston.

These social groups are a great way to meet other people, have a chat and a bit of fun with an activity or two such as quizzes, music etc.

The following workshops have been arranged: April 21, 12-2pm (N2W Drop in Session) and April 26, 11-12pm (Transferra­ble Skills).

Access2Emp­loyment is based in Almondbank Centre, Livingston supporting the individual so that they are equipped with employabil­ity skills that

meet the needs of employers, recognisin­g that one size does not fit all. Advisers help people to develop confidence, compile or advise on preparing CVs, provide interview guidance, assist with the completion of applicatio­n forms and provide overall employabil­ity support.

ART AND WELL-BEING COURSE CRAIGSFARM

As part of our Community Well-being and Resilience programme, we are delighted to be introducin­g a new course to you that promotes well being and at the same time allows you to tap into that wonderful creativity waiting to burst out.

We have invited Katherine Fay Allan to host a series of workshops to explore how creativity can help us grow in confidence and find moments of joy.

These workshops will draw inspiratio­n from nature and the surroundin­g green spaces at Craigsfarm; exploring themes around resilience, connection, growth and celebratio­n.

You will be guided through a variety of creative processes including drawing, painting and sculpture as well as using both traditiona­l and found materials. These workshops will follow a relaxed and open learning approach to encourage a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. The sessions are free to attend and open to everyone. You do not need any prior knowledge of art, all that is required is a willingnes­s to try something new and to explore creativity.

Our Art and Well-being course is certain to lift our moods and inspire our hidden creativity.

The course will run for 5 weeks on Tuesday afternoons from 1- 3.30pm starting Tuesday May 3 to June 7. The course will be held at the Craigsfram Community Hub, and as places are limited you must register for the course. We welcome a £5 contributi­on towards the cost of the course, but this is not a requiremen­t.
