Call for potential foster carers

-

The West Lothian Council Family Placement Team are looking for people interested in becoming a foster carer.

And they are set to offer introductory training sessions in the near future.

Becoming a foster parent offers individuals and families the chance to support a young person by taking them into their home.

Foster carers are provided with full support and training from the West Lothian Council Family Placement Team throughout the entire process.

Lisa, a foster parent from West Lothian, told of the positive impact fostering has made to her life and said:“I love to see my wee twinkles smiling and happy as they start to make themselves at home.

“They get to experience new things in life. Nothing is more rewarding than fostering and I feel very lucky to have this job.”

People interested in fostering are invited to a Foster Carer Preparation Course in May at the Strathbrock

Partnership centre in Broxburn.

Participants will be invited to attend two Saturdays and two evenings during the week. Dates to be confirmed.

Locals interested in fostering should email C&FFamilyPlacement Team@ westlothian.gov.uk or call 07863557552 to book their place on the Foster Preparation Course or to find out more about fostering in West Lothian.

West Lothian Council head of social policy, Jo Macpherson said:“There is an urgent need in West Lothian for people to fill key fostering roles to look after and care for some of our most vulnerable children and young people.

“If you feel like you could make a difference then please get in touch with our Family Placement Team to find out more and to get signed up for May’s preparation sessions.”
