Due to elections, the May meeting date for Mid Calder Community Council has changed to Thursday 12th May. The Community Council normally meet on the first Thursday of the month from 7.30pm in Mid Calder Institute Hall. Meetings are open to all residents of Mid Calder. MID CALDER CHILDREN’S GALA RACE NIGHT,

April 30th 2022 At 7pm in The Masonic Hall Mid Calder. Tickets £10 each, Horses For Sale £3 each. Sponsor A Race for £ 30. Bets: £1 Each. Enjoy an evening with the ponies, greyhounds and pigs. Place your bets, cheer on your horse and hopefully enjoy your winnings. Tickets are £10 each and includes a buffet. Fancy owning a horse on the night? Buy a horse and name it for £3 and you win a bottle of bubbly if your horse wins. You can also sponsor a race for £30. Bets are £1 each. MID CALDER PATH/ NCN75

The path linking AlmondelI with Mid Calder remains temporaril­y closed to allow for constructi­on works at Mid Calder weir where a new fish pass is being created. This route also forms part of National Cycle Network 75. Diversion for both pedestrian­s and cyclists is via road and pavement between Mid Calder and East Calder and has been signposted by Sustrans with yellow diversion signs. Works are progressin­g but have been subject to delay due to inclement weather but will hopefully be open towards the end of May 2022.

MID CALDER GALA WEEK

will run from Sunday 29th May to Saturday 4th June and the theme is

Lockdown Heroes. What got you through lockdown? For the kids it could be any number of things, favourite TV show, film, book, Zoom Xbox, Playstatio­n, Nintendo, family and friends, teachers, the list goes on. We had the NHS, Police and Fire Brigade. Lorry, bus and delivery drivers. Care workers and shop assistants. The Gala theme this year is to reflect these heroes and especially the kids of Mid Calder.

MID CALDER SCHOOL OF DANCE

meet in the Institute Hall, Mid Calder. Come along and try out your local community dance school. We have ballet / tap classes on Mondays between 3.40pm and 6.30pm and highland / disco classes on Thursdays between 6pm and 9.15pm. Our classes are open to children of all ages from 3 upwards. Mid Calder School of Dance is a not for profit group which has been part of the Mid Calder Community for over 25 years. This new group is now in place, 9 noon, at Broxburn Baptist Church! All welcome. We aim to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere to aid Parents, Grandparen­ts, Carers and Child-minders in caring for and entertaini­ng the wee ones in their care. This group is new and we are interested in suggestion­s to help its evolution and growth. We will be following the Scottish Government­s Guidance regarding Covid; we hope this will give folks confidence to come along!
