Shoppers gear up for fun in the sun

-

With a touch of spring in the air, there’s no better time to refresh your wardrobe with some of the hottest new season styles and visitors to The Centre, Livingston are already indulging in an array of pieces to update their look for the warmer weather.

When our Street Style Squad visited The Centre last week, shoppers were snapping up key spring/summer trends including chunky clogs from River Island, timeless linen pieces from M&S, playful pastel gingham from DV8 Fashion and festival tees from H&M.

With over 150 stores in The Centre it’s no wonder shopping bags were bulging – as well as treating themselves to new season pieces and wedding outfits, some lucky shoppers were also on the hunt for hot holiday wear – from floaty maxis and broderie detailed tops to cut off denim, sliders and sunglasses.

This month, six stylish shoppers were selected to share their fabulous new purchases in return for a gift card worth £25, which can be used in over 80 stores and all restaurants in The Centre.

The first person on our style radar was Linda Forrester (64), from Livingston. Linda is attending a wedding in a few weeks and was visiting The Centre to find a suit for her husband.

Linda said: “As I live close by I’m down at The Centre all the time. I came down to look at suits but while I was browsing I saw a nice floral dress for myself in Primark which I couldn’t resist getting.”

The next person to catch our Style Squad’s eye was Lyndsey Roberton (43), who was enjoying a day at The Centre with her daughter, picking up a few new pairs of jeans for her from H&M.

Lyndsey said: “We’ve got a nice mix of styles for her – some black jeans for school as well as some flared blue jeans for weekends and holidays.”

Our next lucky shopper was Sai Bendi (33), a software tester from West Calder. Sai had come down to The Centre to have a look for some new season kidswear for her little ones.

Sai said: “I have a seven-year old and a one-year-old and I need to get some summer items for their wardrobe including shoes and clothes. I’ve picked up some nice pieces in H&M and some footwear from Deichmann. I’m off to Costa Coffee then I’m going to have a further look around.”

The Style Squad couldn’t resist checking out the purchases of Jeanette Murphy (50).

Jeanette was visiting The Centre to find a few items of summer clothing for her upcoming holiday to Mexico.

Jeanette said: “I’m looking for everything from sandals for me to t-shirts for my husband – so far I’ve found a cute sleeveless striped top for me in H&M for £10.

“I’m going to stop for some lunch before having a look in River Island and New Look.”

Our next stylish shopper was Eileen McGill (76), who was visiting The Centre with her daughter to find an outfit for an upcoming wedding.

Eileen said: “I found a lovely threequarter formal orange and black patterned dress in M&S which will be perfect for the wedding. I’ve already got accessories which will complement it, so that’s my outfit sorted!”

Our final lucky shopper was classroom assistant Ashley McGill (44).

Ashley was enjoying a day of retail therapy with her mum, looking for a wedding guest outfit. Ashley said: “I thought I’d take advantage of the holiday to have a shopping trip with my mum.

“I’ve just been into M&S and bought a pink bow fascinator – now I’ve just got to find the rest of the outfit!”

Ashley Bisland, deputy centre director, said: “Over the last month shoppers at The Centre have been snapping up the hottest new season offerings – from stylish occasion wear and statement accessories, to summer beauty buys.

“We hope our six lucky winners enjoy spending their gift card at The Centre.”
