Alice ‘can’t wait’ to fly flag at Games
West Lothian weightlifter Alice Aitchison has been selected to represent Team Scotland at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
It’s a first Commonwealth Games nod for the Broxburntrained athlete, who will be competing in the 71kg category in England.
A fine performance at the recent British Championships, where she gained a bronze medal, helped cement Alice’s place in the squad for the event.
And she has spoken of her sense of pride at receiving
the call and now can’t wait to fly the flag for Scotland later this year.
She said:“I can’t wait to get to the Games and making the team definitely makes up for the sacrifices I have made to be where I am.
“It’s hard to put into words the sense of pride I feel getting to represent Scotland on the platform in Birmingham this year.”
The weightlifting events will take place at the NEC Arena in Birmingham between June 30 and July 3.
