Plansfor newunits athealth centre
Permission is being sought by health bosses to place two temporary units at a busy health centre to increase capacity.
A planning application for the units at East Calder Medical Practice has been lodged by NHS Lothian as construction of a new health centre facility is still a few years away.
The two 31sq m units will add to the temporary cabins already on the site. Almost 3000 homes will be built at the new Calderwood Development near the village with around a third of that already constructed.
Calderwood Primary School and Early Years Nursery opened in September 2021. NHS Lothian said: “Requirement is for provision of additional temporary accommodation to meet the health centre’s clinical requirements in advance of construction of new health centre on site. Currently duration unknown however likely to be in duration of approximately two to three years.”
