COMMUNITY COUNCIL

-

Local residents attended last week’s meeting of the Dedridge Community Council held at Crofthead Farm, to complain about the ongoing increase in antisocial behaviour and vandalism being carried out by youths in Dedridge. The problem is being compounded due to small groups of youths joining together and collectively causing greater problems in the area. Younger children are finding themselves being bullied by older youths at the Lanthorn Park area

Concerns were also expressed regarding the lack of Police patrols in the Dedridge area and attenders called for the reintroduction of dedicated community Police officers, a format which proved very effective in reducing crime throughout the various Livingston districts.

At one time the officers patrolled the streets on mountain bikes. The Community Council will invite the Police along to their next meeting along with a representative from the Community Action Project who work closely with local youths.
