are having their annual quiz on Friday 20th May at 7:30pm in West Calder Bowling Club teams of 4 £5 per team.

For the kids it could be any number of things, favourite TV show, film, book, Zoom Xbox, Playstatio­n, Nintendo, family and friends, teachers, the list goes on. We had the NHS, Police and Fire Brigade. Lorry, bus and delivery drivers. Care workers and shop assistants. The Gala theme this year is to reflect these heroes and especially the kids of Mid Calder.

The path linking AlmondelI with Mid Calder remains temporaril­y closed to allow for constructi­on works at Mid Calder weir where a new fish pass is being created. This route also forms part of National Cycle Network 75. Diversion for both pedestrian­s and cyclists is via road and pavement between Mid Calder and East Calder and has been signposted from Bridgend.

will take place at 1pm on Saturday 4th June 2022. This year’s theme is lockdown superheroe­s. If you wish to walk with The Toddler Group in this year’s gala day you need to meet at Sommers Park Mid Calder at 12.30pm. Names will be taken nearer the time for both the parade and gala bags. You do not have to live in Mid Calder to take part in the parade.

MID CALDER BABY AND TODDLER GROUP

meets in the Institute Hall on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 11.30pm. Cost of a session is £1 for under 1’s and £2 for 1 and over. Older children will be given a snack and there is tea/ coffee available for adults. It is up to the parents to set up and then put away toys and make sure the hall is left clean and tidy. MID CALDER SCHOOL OF DANCE

meet in the Institute Hall, Mid Calder. Come along and try out your local community dance school. We have ballet / tap classes on Mondays between 3.40pm and 6.30pm and highland / disco classes on Thursdays between 6pm and 9.15pm. Our classes are open to children of all ages from 3 upwards. There is no set dress code - fairies, flower girls and bower girls can wear any coloured dresses.

Soldiers and escorts can wear black trousers, white shirts or anything they have that is soldier like.

THE BRIDGE 19-40 UNION CANAL SOCIETY

Are hosting a fundraisin­g day on Saturday, May 21 from 10am – 4pm. It is 200 years since the opening of the Union Canal. The canal boats will be arriving at Muster point, Port Buchan around 11.40am. The three 2010s football teams for Broxburn are looking for trialists to help bolster squads for now and next seasons 11 aside leagues.

LIGHTHOUSE BABY & TODDLER GROUP

This new group is now in place, 9 noon, at Broxburn Baptist Church! All welcome. We aim to provide a safe and supportive atmosphere to aid Parents, Grandparen­ts, Carers and Child-minders in caring for and entertaini­ng the wee ones in their care. This group is new and we are interested in suggestion­s to help its evolution and growth. We will be following the Scottish Government­s’s Guidance regarding Covid; we hope this will give folks confidence to come along!
