David in the driving seat to seal British title
David Philp Jr is the new ORCi Stock Rod British champion following a thrilling evening of racing at the Cowdenbeath Racewall in Fife.
The local ace started off with a fifth place in the opening heat and then went on to win heat two.
He started the Championship from row two and throughout the race was involved in a four-car battle for the win.
He dropped to fourth early on but as the race progressed, he began to move through the field before eventually bursting through into the lead and holding steady for the win.
Armadale’s Taylor Borthwick and
Kirknewton’s Leon Stewart qualified for the final, however, the latter had to retire with a puncture whilst Borthwick wasn’t classified.
Elsewhere during a busy evening of racing, Jordan Cassie (Armadale), Ross Forrest (Livingston) and Willie Mitchell (East Calder) were amongst the Saloon drivers running in a series of qualifying rounds for their British Championship.
Forrest picked up a fourth and a 10th and will start the British from row 10.
Mitchell and Cassie will have to race in Sunday’s last chance qualifying heat.
