Over £2000 has been raised to help pay for the funeral of tragic young mum Aimee Cannon after a fundraiser was launched by her devastated workmates.

Aimee Cannon’s body was found at a property in Learmonth Crescent in West Calder on Saturday, May 7.

Emergency services attended the area at 6.30pm before the 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Michael Porchetta (25), has since appeared in court charged with the murder of Aimee.

Tributes poured in for the mumof-two, with people in her tightknit village donating money to cover funeral costs and to help her children.

An online fundraiser organised by Aimee’s colleagues at Glo Tanning and Beauty banded together to raise £2860.

Owner of the salon Tracey Donlevy, who created the GoFundMe page, described her employee as “our beautiful staff member”.

She continued: “After receiving the devastating news of the tragic passing of our beautiful staff member and mother of two kids, Aimee Cannon, we would like to help raise funds to give her the best possible send off she deserves.

“These funds can help go towards Aimee’s funeral or straight to her beautiful children.”

Michael Porchetta (25) was brought from custody for a private hearing on petition in front of Sheriff Douglas Kinloch at Livingston Sheriff Court on Wednesday, May 11.

Porchetta was charged with murdering Aimee by repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a knife or similar instrument.

He made no plea or declaration and the case against him was continued for further inquiries.
