Team looks the part in new kit

-

Murieston United’s Under-12 Girls blue team were able to provide full kits to their team after a local sponsor stepped in to help.

The girls youth squad received the support from Stones Bar and Grill in Livingston and other local businesses after they jumped from Division D to Division A in just six months.

The squad have played together since forming in September last year, taking four girls from the 9s and five girls from the under-11’s.

Despite starting with hand-medown strips, balls, and training equipment from other squads at Murieston, the young girls performed incredibly well in the D league – jumping to Division A after a few grading matches.

Thanks to local businesses supporting the young club with their sponsorship, the squad now have their very own training kits for all the players, as well as brand new training equipment.

Louise Wright, team secretary and coach of the Murieston United U12 girl’s blue team, said:“Thanks to four local businesses putting hands in their pockets and giving quite a large amount of money, the girls have everything they need for this season. From their kit to footballs to

cones and hurdles, we have got everything that we need for training now.

“The girls are absolutely buzzing about it. They were playing for the first time in their new kits on Sunday and I’ve never seen them play so well – they won 13-0!

“We’ve played three games of Division A so far and we have fixtures right up until the end of June. We’re playing seven-a-side just now, but it might be time to shift them up to nine-a-side sooner rather than later with the experience they’re bringing to the game.”

At the end of the season the team will be attending the Hibs festival where they will play off against other youth teams.
