Angela Constance MSP had the pleasure of attending the opening of the West Lothian Chinese Community Hub in Pumpherston on Sunday, May 8.

The Chinese Community Hub was established in 2020 by families during the pandemic to overcome a range of difficulties including shopping. The community hub is located near West Lothian’s first Chinese Supermarket. The official opening was a day of celebration with Chinese dance (including a dragon) and food with hub committee members outlining their current and future plans including Chinese language and cooking classes as well as work to support children and families.

Angela Constance MSP said:“I want to pay tribute to everyone involved in the Chinese Community Hub which was established spontaneously by families during the pandemic.

“At time of loneliness and isolation they brought people together and this fantastic community hub will be a positive lasting legacy of that work. The official opening was a lovely community celebration and I am sure the Chinese cooking and Chinese language classes will be very popular. West Lothian is welcoming and diverse and this new hub is testimony to the contribution made by Chinese community to life in West Lothian. I wish the board members of the Community Hub every success in their plans for the future.”
