Stock car drivers fall just short

-

There was plenty of close and fast racing during the stock car meeting at the Cowdenbeath Racewall on Saturday night but for once West Lothian drivers failed to grab a win.

Livingston’s Robbie Armit and Bobby Brandon of Fauldhouse suffered differing outcomes in the Ministox where their races were fast-paced and full of incidents.

Brandon hit trouble in all of his races and failed to record a top-10 finish.

Armit, on the other hand, finished in third place in the opening heat thanks to a late dash towards the line.

In heat two he had to settle for fourth place in a keenly contested race that saw the first four

finish nose to tail.

When the final started, he was soon making up ground but after a three car shunt the race was suspended.

On the restart Armit started in fifth and began to make up ground as the raced progressed.

A fierce fightback fell just short as he had to settle for the runner-up spot.

In the saloons, Armadale’s Jordan Cassie had a mixed meeting failing to finish in the results in either of his heats.

It was a different story during the final, though, where he ran strongly although he lost a couple of places during the closing stages and had to settle for seventh place.
