Pair make Livingston exit on deadline day

-

Josh Mullin and Harrison Clark exiting the club were the only transfer deadline day moves from Livingston on Tuesday.

Mullin’s departure to Ayr United brings about the end of his second spell at the club. The 30-year-old winger had spent the first half of the campaign on loan at the Somerset Park club and completes a permanent move until the end of the campaign.

The fan’s favourite was an integral part of the club’s famous double promotion in 2017 and 2018 before departing for Ross County.

He re-joined the club two years later but found options limited the following season and moved on loan to Hamilton. Despite netting in the first game of this season, he was loaned out once again, joining Ayr.

Paying tribute to the player, Livi boss David Martindale said: “I’m disappointed that it’s worked out this way because Josh has played a huge part in the success of the club over the years but he needs to be out playing football and I was happy to try and accommodate whatever was going to work best for him.

“I want to go on record thanking him for everything he has done for the football club and for myself personally. He’s someone I consider a friend but also a very, very good football player and he’s certainly helped this club get better with everything he’s offered over the years.”

“He’s been a delight to coach over his time here and as much as I’m disappointed this second spell didn’t quite work out how either of us would have hoped, I’m happy we’ve been able to reach a mutual termination that suits both parties and I wish Josh nothing but success in the future.”

Midfielder Clark (19) failed to make a first-team appearance for the club and had loan stints at Arbroath, Kelty Hearts and Stirling Albion. He is expected to sign with National League side Gateshead.
