Holt:‘We won’t let it derail our league campaign’

-

Livingston midfielder Jason Holt says the players are determined to ensure their Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Inverness doesn’t ruin their season.

While the Lions turned in an abject display as they suffered a 3-0 loss to the Championship side, the former Rangers and Hearts man insists they’ll work hard to put things right as they continue their bid for a top-six finish and potentially a first European berth in two decades.

He said:“It’s hard to put your finger on it because it was a poor result and a poor performance to go along with it.

“It’s not been like us because we’ve been getting good results over recent weeks so it’s a hard one to take but we’ll try and not let that derail our league campaign.

“We were confident going into the game and prepared as we would normally against any other team but

we’re disappointed. The manner of the goals are poor and we’ve discussed that but we need to look towards the Rangers game.”

He added:“It was a bit lethargic and we seemed to be missing that spark throughout the team. We just couldn’t get going. It was a bit flat and we’re massively disappointed.

“Our league form has been very good recently so although we’re disappointed we need to move on.

“We’ve got nine huge games before the split to try and pick up as many positive results as we can and try to get into that top six.”

The Lions are sitting in fourth place as they head into the clash with Rangers but after Saturday’s fixture with Michael Beale’s side they will have no more games remaining against teams in the top four.

Livi came within seconds last season of sealing a third successive top-six finish as an injury-time equaliser conceded against Motherwell knocked them out.
