Kind pupils raise fur-nomenal amount for Guide Dog charity
We’re grateful to Guide Dogs Scotland for coming in and we’re all very proud of the girls for the effort and hard work they put into the event
A pair of pals have helped to raise more than £300 for charity after being inspired by a school visit.
Ciara Burns and Isla Gill of Westfield Primary School raised the funds for Guide Dogs Scotland thanks to a bake sale after the charity spent a recent afternoon at the school.
The duo felt the need to help and set about organising the sale hoping to donate £50 .
But they ended up raising more than six times that figure as they handed over more than £300.
And they got a special visit as the charity – along with some of their working dogs – returned to the school to thank the kind youngsters for their efforts.
Westfield Primary School Principal Teacher, Mrs Stutt, told the Courier:“We have a programme every Thursday
afternoon where we have different organisations coming in and spending an hour with the kids.
“It’s about learning new life skills and seeing what’s out there. We welcomed Guide Dogs Scotland one afternoon and a couple of the pupils were really inspired.
“They decided they wanted to raise funds for the charity and came up with the idea of a bake sale and wanting to raise £50. They held that in Bridgehouse and were able to raise over £300.”
She added:“Some of the volunteers from Guide Dog Scotland came in to thank the girls and they brought some of their working dogs.
“We’ve really grateful to them for coming in and we’re all very proud of the girls for their effort and hard work that they put into the event.”
