Paige on race quest in memory of Jamie

West Lothian Love Island star Paige Turley has announced she will be running a half marathon in tribute to a local young man who tragically died.

The Fauldhouse influencer has confirmed she will be taking part in the London Landmarks half marathon on April 2, in memory of Jamie Aitchison.

Paige explained that the 20-year-old who was local to her birth town lost his battle with mental health issues, and she will be raising money on Just Giving to honour him. The star posted the news on her Instagram story, in a lengthy discussion that included her thoughts around mental health support.

She said: “Hi guys, so as you may know I’ve been training for the LondonLandmarksHalf half marathon on April 2.

“In December last year, my hometown sadly lost a truly upstanding guy – Jamie Aitchison aged 20.

“After he sadly lost his battle against the scourge of mental health, the tragic news has left a hole in many people’s hearts – many in the community are struggling to come to terms with the loss of Jamie, who was the light in a dark room.

“Therefore, I’m raising funds for @mhealthuk, an amazing charity who cover the whole of UK and who’s main goal is a future where no one has to face mental illness alone.

“They provide transformational services for people such as counselling, practical and emotional support as well as creative and wellbeing activities – ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need, when they need it, and in a way which works for them.”

In her next two slides, Paige continued: “Unfortunately, this is news that is heard too often, with mental health reported to be affecting 1 in 4 people in the UK.

“For anyone who is experiencing mental health difficulties or thoughts of suicide, please reach out.

“Speak to family or loved ones, and contact Mental Health UK or in an emergency, 999.

“Don’t suffer alone. The

work these charities do and the help they put in place is seriously incredible, as well as help for anyone affected by suicide.

“Please reach out to friends and ask how they are, ask twice ... you never know what someone is hiding behind a smile.

“Jamie’s smile was most definitely the brightest in the room.

“In loving memory of Jamie Aitchison.”

The influencer completed her story by saying: “Again, I thank you in advance for all donations – however big or small – and for any shares.

“It will hopefully help towards others in getting the help that they need.”
