Make bad brow days a thing of the past...

EMMA JOHNSON gets expert advice on how to achieve beautiful brows

-

Brows are an ongoing obsession in the beauty world. Whether they’re fluffy, bleached, laminated or natural, trends are always evolving. But from tadpoles to slug brows and over-plucked disasters – we’ve all had bad brow days.

Here, celebrity make-up artist Sarah Amelia Fogg – founder of Brows by Sarah (brows-by-sarah.com – who works with reality star Olivia Attwood and England Lioness Chloe Kelly, tells us how to make them a thing of the past.

Experiment with new trends

‘We’ve seen so many trends this year from the ever-loved fluffy brows to bleached brows and skinny brows,” says Sarah.

“Brow lamination has become extremely popular recently. This is the process of straightening your brow hairs to sit in the desired direction. It involves softening the brows with a chemical solution and then brushing them into your perfect brow shape to set.

“Brow lamination is pain-free, relaxing and results in thicker, bushy-looking brows. Or, if you want to try this at home, an eyebrow gel provides a temporary fix of fluffy brows.”

Be patient when figuring out the best shape for you

Says Sarah: “I can’t stress enough how important it is to have the right eyebrow shape as your eyebrows can lift, define, and flatter your whole face.”

She adds: “You want to follow the natural arch of your brow at all times and keep the bulb of the brow super soft getting stronger towards the tail. This will result in the most naturallooking brow that is the best shape for your face.

“I’d also recommend picking a colour that is a shade or two lighter than the natural colour of your brows. If you like the defined look, go for one shade slightly darker. With this look, don’t add any colour to the end of your brow, overextending the tail end of your eyebrow, as this can draw your face down.”

Neglecting your brows can make you look older

“Brows are the most common area I see where people make mistakes that age them,” says Sarah. “Neglecting your brows completely can make you look older, especially if you have sparse brows.

“Similarly, going too heavy on the product can also age you.

“Applying too much product in general is a common mistake that can age you, whether that’s with your brow products, eyeliner or foundation.”

Don’t over pluck

“Everyone has heard this advice, but it is easy to get carried away,” says Sarah. “Try to stick to plucking any strays rather than plucking away at your entire brow. I always recommend embracing your brows’ natural shape, rather than trying to change the shape by plucking. Once you’ve plucked too far you may get to a point of no return!”

Invest in a growth serum

“If you want to try and grow your brows to fill them in naturally, without using a pencil to fill them in or having a brow treatment, a brow growth serum is everything.

“My Wow Brow growth serum is a three-in-one product that is clinically proven to naturally fill in your brows. Wow Brow reactivates brow growth whilst stimulating keratin production, and strengthening weak and sparse brow hairs. It’s all about being consistent with usage and having patience to see results. “I’d also recommend avoiding the tweezers unless you’re plucking from the glabella (the flat area between your eyebrows above your nose), otherwise try to let your brows grow to help them fill in naturally.”
