Local athletes shine at Parkrun events

West Lothian club athletes were in fine form across the three Parkrun events in the county on Saturday morning.

Livingston Athletic Club and Lothian Running Club both had two members finish in the top seven at the Livingston Parkrun, which was won by Polmont Jogging Club’s Gavin McCluskie in a personal best time of 18.10.

Livingston AC duo Kaydan Day and Matthew MacIver were fourth and fifth to cross the finish line respective­ly with Kaydan sealing a time of 19.15. Matthew broke the 20-minute mark as he crossed the line in a time of 19.54.

They were followed home immediatel­y by LRC pair Danny Fletcher and Ryan Ferguson. Danny was sixth with a new personal best time of 20.05 with Ryan one place and nine seconds further back.

LRC had a remarkable five top-10 finishers at the Auldcathie District Parkrun. Pitreavie AAC’s Evan Ross (17.24 PB) won the race with Owen Williams the first of three successive LRC finishers as he grabbed fourth spot in a new personal best of 18.00.

He was followed home by club-mates Ryan

Kirkland (18.08) and Euan McInnes (18.09 PB) while fellow LRC members Colin Partridge (19.23) and Mark Forrester (19.41 PB) crossed the line in ninth and 10th places respective­ly.

The Polkemmet Country Parkrun was won by Alan Hume of Central AC in a time of 19.36. Malcolm Hughes of Linlithgow AAC was the first locally-affiliated runner to cross the line with his time of 22.32 seeing him finish fourth.

LRC’s Dougie Hunter, who was fifth in 22.46, was the only other runner at a local club to bag themselves a top-10 spot.
