Murray’s in a hurry to make her mark

Livingston Women’s newbie Anna Murray says joining the club has made her enjoy her football again.
The versatile 32-year-old penned a deal after leaving SWPL2 side Boroughmuir Thistle following a successful trial with the Lionesses.
Being good pals with Livi striker Brogan Anderson meant that she was given the inside track on the club prior to her arrival – but she admits that it has been even better than expected.
And they could seal the SWF Championship title on May 7 when they host second-placed Renfrew, with the Lionesses needing just a point from their last three games to get over the line.
Speaking to the Courier, Anna said: “It was an odd time of the season to move on but I could have stayed and not really enjoyed my football or move on and look for another opportunity.
“I put a tweet out saying that I was looking for a club and Livingston were there straight away.
“I was delighted by their interest and I had heard a lot of good things about the club.
“I know a few of the girls and I’m really good pals with Brogan so it was just something that was very intriguing and made a lot of sense.
“It’s been a real breath of fresh air to be at the club and see the support and backing they have.
“On the pitch, the girls have been brilliant and they’re top of the league for a reason but off the pitch it’s a club doing things right and being run in the right manner and that was a huge attaction as well.
“It’s an exciting project to be part of. I’ve been really impressed.”
Anna added: “They asked me to come in for a chat and it was great to have that feeling of ‘these guys really want me to be here’ which was really refreshing.
“I think that they were looking for someone with a bit of experience to just help things along and add a bit of competition to the squad because that’s vital.
“It’s important to have everyone challenging and needing to be at their best to play games and earn their place in the team.”
Murray admits she’s seen enough in the current squad to know they can mix it in the second tier next season should they get themselves over the line.
But apart from getting her hands on a winner’s medal, she says there’s one personal aim she’s determined to achieve at the club – play up front.
She joked: “I’ve played most of my career in central midfield but I’ve played all across the back in the last couple of seasons and was mainly right-back last year.
“I just need to play up front now but nobody has given the opportunity yet! Hopefully we can get that sorted!
“I’m just happy to be enjoying playing my football so wherever they need me, I’ll give eveything and I think that’s really something that’s there throughout the team.”
