Delight as Gruffalo joins party
A special guest surprised costumed youngsters at Horsham’s town centre World Book Day party. The Gruffalo joined children for the bash in the Carfax as part of the Horsham District Year of Culture. A special guest surprised costumed youngsters at Horsham’s town centre World Book Day party.
The Gruffalo joined children for the bash in the Carfax as part of the Horsham District Year of Culture.
Horsham District Council, in partnership with Horsham Markets by Food Rocks, Tomfoolery, Maverick Publishing, Gobsmack Comics and Non Stop Party Shop, organised the World Book Day costume party and story reading on March 7 with children’s entertainer Tomfoolery reading the world famous Gruffalo tale to the assembled children.

After the storytelling on the bandstand, nursery school and primary school children had their costumes judged in the categories of, best preschool costume, best boy’s
costume, best girl’s costume and best superhero costume.
Horsham Markets and their street food traders chose the day to launch their special smaller appetites menu with portions priced at just £4 each, providing an ideal opportunity for everyone to become a taste explorer and enjoy some freshly cooked produce.
Councillor Chowen added: “Children came ready in their World Book Day costumes from school to enjoy the storytelling. Watch out for the Gruffalo’s next big day – his 20th anniversary on March 23.”
