Hotshots’ crucial win in relegation battle

-

On Sunday Horsham Hotshots played hosts to third placed Clapham & Patching Indoor Short Mat Club.

It was a critical match for the Hotshots, who, at the start of play, were second from bottom of the league.

On mat one, a team with skip Dave Marden aided by lead Barbara Meyer, with second club captain Irene Gettins, and Stuart King, produced an outstanding performance running out with a score of 41 shots to 13.

On mat two, it was a far closer match with Hotshots taking an early lead, but, by halfway the scores were equal, before the Hotshots, with skip Martin Gardner, Anna Bishop, John Meyer, and Ali HiltonChilds progressed to win the rink by 26 shots to Patching’s 22.

The total match scores were 67 shots to 35, a resounding victory giving the Hotshots all six league points available.

This lifted them into third place in the league before any other club results were known or taken into account but, this should make them safe from any relegation issues.
