Cranleigh Prep u13 boys are Surrey hockey champions

-

Cranleigh Prep U13 boys’ hockey team went into the Surrey hockey tournament aware that they would only get through to the regional stage of the competition if they achieved a place in the final.

A late goal in the first group game separated the teams, with Cranleigh Prep grabbing a 1-0 win against Caterham School.

Next up was Parkside. Cranleigh Prep played well and took a convincing 2-0 lead into the second half. However, Parkside scored twice in the second half to get the draw.

From there the team recorded victories against Reigate Grammar School and St. Andrew’s, winning 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. They were drawn in a tough semi-final against Reed’s School.

The extra pressure of needing to get to the final to qualify for the regional competition didn’t faze them, winning the game 3-0.

The final was another fixture against Parkside and once again it was a tight encounter. The game was decided on penalty flick. Where Cranleigh Prep held their nerve, scored all their flicks and won 3-1.
