Shock at daytime gang attacks

required medical treatment after she was assaulted trying to break up a fight between a group of youths in Sainsbury’s car park in Worthing Road, Horsham.

“Police were called to the scene at 2.09pm where seven or eight youths, some on bikes, were reported to be fighting. They headed off towards the town centre.

“A 15-year-old boy, also received medical treatment for minor injuries.

“Anyone with informatio­n about the incident, those involved or who may have photos or video of the incident is asked to call 101 quoting serial 709 of 19/03.”

A local resident says he broke up the attack outside the One Stop shop in Billingshu­rst Road, Broadbridg­e Heath, at around 8pm on the same day.

In a post on social media he said: “Shocking ... teenage lads recklessly kicking another lad on the floor in the head whilst throwing bricks at him.”

Others described the attack as ‘horrible’, ‘awful’ and ‘terrible’ and congratula­ted the resident for bravely stepping in.

A woman said her husband had seen the attack and was ‘utterly shocked’.

A police spokesman said: “We received a report from a witness who had seen a teenage boy being assaulted by three other teenagers outside the One Stop shop on Tuesday (March 19) just before 8pm. The victim got up and walked off. The victim has not been traced or reported the incident.
