Make your mark in hospice art project
Artist Susan Tindall, from Southwater, is one of many decorating a large heart which will form part of the St Catherine’s Hospice HeART to HeART community art trail during summer 2019.
Susan’s heart, titled ‘Heartfelt - You Touched My Heart’, is a beautiful design made up of individual ceramics, the main part of which will be created using ‘thumbprint hearts’.
Susan has been creating ceramics for ten years now.
She explained that when her fibromyalgia made it too difficult to continue special needs teaching at The QEII School, she bought an old kiln on eBay and took a course at West Dean and started to create her ceramics.
She is largely self taught, enjoys all types of art work and her greatest achievement so far is having a painting selected for and sold at The Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition.
She belongs to three local art groups, having coordinated Horsham Artists Open Studios for six years.
She particularly enjoys working on many subjects but her specific interests are related to nature and dogs.
Susan would like to invite you to make your mark by ‘donating’ your thumbprint to a ceramic heart at The Capitol in North Street, Horsham, today (Thursday May 30).
They will be added to her final heart design which will form part of the summer trail.
Nick Mowat, general manager at The Capitol, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming Susan and can’t wait to see her heart as it develops into the final piece of artwork ready to be auctioned for this wonderful local charity who work so hard to help terminally ill people.
‘‘Please join Susan to make your mark and give your donation at The Capitol from 11.30am until 3pm where she will be recording each participant’s name and town/village where they live to make a booklet to go with the finished piece when it is auctioned.’’
