Leagues are determined to finish seasons

-

Darts leagues in the district are determined to get their season finished.

Terry Thornton gave the players and clubs the following update after the news the government had extended the lockdown for a further three weeks.

H&W Thursday Night Darts: It is the intention to complete the current season, whenever that may be. That may include playing cup games on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Southwater Summer Dart League: To complete a full league season without any competitions they need eleven weeks and ideally finish by October 1.

If they can resumesome time in May we will have about 20 weeks so some competitions can be fitted in. To do just the league games they need to start mid-July.

Hall & Woodhouse Pentathlon League: This league poses more problems, a complete league season is 17 weeks, not including the KO Cup.

That would mean a midJune start, as yet I do not know what is happening with the current Crawley & Horsham Monday night dart leagues.

The Horsham league only has a maximum of three weeks left, Crawley, as far as I can tell, have at least eight weeks left.

The options we have are as follows:

1. To cancel the whole season 2. Start in June (latest). 3. The Crawley teams could play their games on a Tuesday or Wednesday, or the whole league could move to Tuesday or Wednesdays.

4. Finally we could split the A & B division in half; ie, four teams in each of four groups and the winners of each group play-off to decide winners and runners up of each division, this could be done in eight weeks.
