Want Covid-19 news for district
I am one of your avid readers and have had the Horsham edition of the County Times for over 20 years.
With regard to the virus I believe it would be helpful if we had some accurate information on what’s happening in the Horsham district.
Is it a hot spot? How many people have the virus? How many people have recovered? How many have been tested? How many have died directly from the virus?
Do people generally know of the Covid-19 hot hub at the old Horsham hospital and how it should be accessed?
As an 80+ year old it is clear Horsham residents are observing social distancing as we have observed when taking our daily exercise walk, as an aside Rookwood golf course is great for this purpose a great shame we can’t use it for golf!?
On a totally different subject a great deal is written regarding housing developments around Horsham, ruining the town with nothing of any note to improve the road infrastructure. Also what happened to the New Hospital at Pease Pottage? Last time
discussed what 25 years ago how many thousands of houses have been built with everyone travelling to East Surrey Hospital! A good subject for a journalist to get their teeth into.
Interesting to hear your views. GEOFF DICKINSON Old Millmeads Horsham
Editor’s note: We have put your questions about Covid-19 cases in the Horsham District to NHS England, as well as the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, and the Clinical Commissioning Group which covers the district. We will share any information that they provide in response. Proposals for a major development including 4,500 homes and a new acute hospital at Pease Pottage were put forward in 2012, but supporters admitted defeat after it became clear that the plan did not have the backing of the Clinical Commissioning Groups. A revised plan was later put forward for 2,500 homes and a business park north of the A264, without a hospital.
