Drive-in movies could bring back joy of cinema
Plans are shaping up for drive-in movies at Loxwood Meadow this summer. Cars will be parked three metres apart, and social distancing and hygiene guidelines will be strictly adhered to at all times, organisers promise. Toilet facilities complying with all additional sanitisation standards will also be provided. Dates and a full film programme are yet to be finalised. Spokesman Heather Joy said: “Perfect for those eager to escape their four walls safely, Loxwood’s new drive-in movie screenings will offer the chance to experience extraordinary films in the beautiful English countryside. With personalised in-car sound and a food delivery service on site, these unique screenings are set to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for couples and families. “Normally known for its medieval family festivals and jazz and blues events, this year sees the Loxwood Meadow install a cinematic LED screen in its Enchanted Meadow, showing a diverse series of films for all ages across four matinees and evenings each week. “Crystal-clear sound will be delivered through an FM transmission to each individual in-car stereo system. An on-site food delivery service will enable guests to order hot food and cold beverages directly to their vehicle.” Loxwood’s owner Maurice Bacon said: “This is an exciting step for us and we are delighted to be creating these fun and safe movie nights in these strange times. We are very aware that even after the lockdown has ended, many people will still be hesitant to venture out for entertainment. Drivein movies are the perfect way to have a night out and be confident of staying safe.” Dates and a full film programme are yet to be finalised, but you can register your interest at www.loxwooddriveinmovies.co.uk.
