No public at Glorious, but members may get in
Goodwood Racecourse bosses have announced that Glorious Goodwood will take place without a public crowd. But they are hoping some racecourse members may be allowed to attend.
The five-day flat racing spectacle has survived in a British Horsearcing Authority list of fixtures for the coming weeks but Goodwood bosses had been hopeful some sort of crowd may be allowed.
But now Goodwood says it will not be a public event dashing the hopes of many who had hoped a small number of race fans may get in.
Asked whether some racecourse members may be allowed into the racecourse in festival week, which is from July 28 to August 1, Goodwood said: “We are continuing to explore whether there could be an opportunity for members to attend Glorious, but it will depend, of course, on on-going Government and BHA advice.”
The racecourse’s general manager, Jon Barnett, said: “It’s obviously hugely disappointing not to be in a position to welcome our many local, national and international visitors to our ‘Glorious’ week this summer.
“However, we are thrilled to be able to race and ITV will be covering the event so that everyone can watch the key races and highlights.”
