Veteran of 500 YM games is new boss
Horsham YMCA have appointed Dean Carden as first team manager, with Julian Miller movingonfrom the club.
Carden is a veteran of YM teams, having first appeared for the club in a cup match against Burgess Hill Town in August 2002.
Since then he has been a stalwart in defence, an on- field leader and made a club record total of 508 appearances.
YMCA said: “Dean i s widely respected in the game andwillbringhisenthusiasm a nd wealth of f ootball experience to his new role at the club.
“Wewouldalsoliketotake this opportunity to thank Julian Miller for his work with Horsham YMCA FC, in particularhisworkinhelping set-upouryouthprogramme and we wish him well for the future.”
Miller had stepped up from assistant manager to manager in the summer, w h e n Pe t e r B u c k l a n d resigned.
Acting YM chairman Mike Whiteford stated: “We are l ooking forward to Dean leading the way in buildingamoreexperienced, competitive team within the County League whilst c o nt i n u i n g t o p r ov i d e opportunities for ‘ home grown’ players from our successful youth football structure.”
Carden featured in the County Times in September when he played his 500th game for the club. He told us then: e told County Times Sport: “I really believe my passion for the game has got me this far. I have met some amazing people that make it all possible and I have always appreciated what work goes on that is never seen.”
