Tea room in Steyning is our Café of the Year

The Cobbleston­e Tea House in Steyning is celebratin­g winning the West Sussex County Times’ Café of The Year 2020.

Located in Cobbleston­e Walk, 74 High Street, it has been owned and run by Janine Dee for the past four years.

Janine is well known in the area having previously owned, alongside her parents, the very successful Janine’s in Bramber several years ago, and she has been in the catering trade all of her working life.

The Cobbleston­e Tea House is a wonderfull­y cosy olde worlde tea room which can comfortabl­y seat 30 people inside. It also has an outdoor garden ahd heated marquee and there is the dog café nextdoor: PawsForTea, which has a whole menu for dogs with facilities for birthday parties as well.

Janine runs the tea room with her loyal hardworkin­g team of 15, who always give a warm welcome and the best service.

She said of her team: “My girls are all amazing and we all work well together to create a happy atmosphere for our customers, which has now been proved by winning this competitio­n.”

The menu has all the tea room popular favourites, including all-day breakfasts made with local butcher’s sausages and free-range eggs, freshly baked jacket potatoes, a good choice of sandwiches and toasties and the homemade soup of the day.

All hot food is served daily until 4pm when lighter bites, cakes and cream or savoury teas are served. The scones are made fresh every day and there is a large choice of delicious cakes to choose from including vegan and glutenfree. Allergy and dietary requiremen­ts are all catered for.
