Losing run ends in style for YM
New Horsham YMCA boss Dean Card en was delighted as his side battled back for a point at home to leaders Salt dean–with only ten men.
Card en said after Tuesday night’ s 3-3draw:“I said Salt dean would have more of the possession, but I emphasised that I expected us to compete– and that’s what we did!
“We matched them and took our chances. Callum Jeal was brought in to mix it up in midfield, without anticipating a goal from him, so that really was the icing on the cake. I’m delighted with that performance – we fully deserved the point.”
On a frosty night at Go rings Me ad Horsham YMCA stunned the runaway leaders by holding them.
En during nine consecutive league defeats, YM supporters have had little to cheer about, but their spirits were boosted by a determined, committed performance after Card en had signed some new players.
YM got off to the ideal start when Jack Ryder broke through to score 25 seconds from the kick-off.
Saltdean came into it but Trevor M cC re a die failed to convert a header and Kieron Pamment blasted wide.
The visitors drew level on the half hour when Pamment hooked in.
An impressive diving header by Harry Shooman gave Saltdean a 2-1 lead before the break.
Inthe57thminute, RyanWarwick gave Saltdean a two goal advantage but Ryder made it 3-2.
YM were reduced to 10 men through sub Archie Cooke’s robust tackle, but in time added on Callum Jealceleb rated his return toYM with a superb long-range strike.
YM welcome Ling field on Saturday, then Hay wards Heath in the Sussex Senior Cup on Tuesday.
