22 people in the Horsham district have died of Covid-19 over the past week, taking the total to 157 since the pandemic started - but thousands have already been vaccinated.

TWENTY-TWO PEOPLE in the Horsham district have died of Covid-19 over the past week.

As the number of deaths across Britain soared past 100,000, figures from Public Health England show that the total number of people in the Horsham area who have died of the virus since the pandemic began now stands at 157.

Last week the total who died within 28 days of testing positive stood at 135.

But, despite the rise in the number of deaths over the past week, fewer people tested positive for Covid within the last seven days. That number stood at 375, down from 717 the previous week.

The current death rate per 100,000 people in the Horsham district now stands at 109.2 and the rate of infection per 100,000 is 260.8 - down from 498,6 the previous week.
