The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is taking place.

Prayer is seldom a passive or solitary state, it is often an active attempt to connect to the love and light of God and with each other. It can give courage and hope.

That granted courage can help us to face the challenges and sadness we witness in our own lives and in the wider world. A place where we receive guidance. It prompts us to take action and do what love requires of us.

Prayer can be a moment of rest and reflection. Other times a stumble in the dark, an expression of anger, a cry for help. Is anyone there?

God who knows and understands us is always there in deepest compassion and love for all of us, no exceptions. Prayer can be chosen words but also a place, a fleeting unspoken moment or listening to the birds in the morning.

It is loving your neighbour, a healing act to someone vulnerable or a kind word to a stranger. JACINTA WHITE Horsham Quakers
