Cake donated to medical centre

- Jasmin Martin

An Easter-themed cake was donated to Henfield Medical Centre as part of a care home’s egg-cellent Easter celebrations.

The decorated layered cake which features a white rabbit on top was made by Glenda Williams, the pastry chef at Red Oaks care home in Henfield, and was donated on Tuesday, April 6.

The medical centre was chosen to receive the cake by votes made on Red Oaks’ Facebook page and it was gratefully received by Dr Cheryl Lambe, one of the partners at the practice.

She said: “This is really amazing that so many people have voted for Henfield Medical Centre, and is quite touching.”

Other activities enjoyed by residents at the care home over Easter included making their own Easter eggs, and decorating a basket which was filled with chocolate eggs and chicks covered in yellow feathers.

Head chef Leigh Clifford made some delicious hot cross buns which were thoroughly enjoyed on Good Friday, while children from Ashurst Church of England School came with handmade cards for all the residents with Easter blessings.

General manager at Red Oaks Linda Ryan said: “As always, we’ve all been looking forward to Easter.

“It’s such a nice time of the year – the residents love all the colourful Easter eggs and celebrating Easter. It’s really been an eggs-cellent few days!”
