Joggers conquer SDW50 challenge

Horsham Joggers duo Ian Moore and James Tombs competed in the SDW50 which is a 50 mile foot race along the South Downs Way national trail.

Runners start by negotiatin­g six miles of chalk footpaths and bridleways, climbing up to join the South Downs Way at Chanctonbu­ry Ring.

The remainder of the course is identical to the final 44 miles of the SDW100 and remains on the South Downs Way until the final turn – finishing with a lap of the track at Eastbourne.

Finish times: James Tombs 08:46:25, Ian Moore 10:09:42.

Geri Smith and Phyl Weston competed in the Hurtwood 50k which starts at Dorking, and follows the Greensand Way into the Surrey Hills.

The race takes you up and over Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill and Pitch Hill through woodlands and valleys that are known as The Hurtwood.

The loop takes you off the Greensand Way before rejoining over the three hills and to the finish.

Eleven Joggers attended Goodwood to run a half-marathon, marathon, 10k or 5k at Goodwood Motor Circuit.
