Thornely told the County Times: “This was another very encouragin­g pre-season win and its good to see TJ (Johnson) back so keen. He got us off to a great start, with Will Beer cashing in, too.

“Again, everyone contribute­d well when we fielded and, when you think that we were without Chris Nash, Nick Oxley, Jimmy Brehaut and Sam Martin-Jenkins, the signs are very promising.”

This Saturday Horsham are at Billingshu­rst CC in the Sussex T20 Cup. Horsham will play the winners of Billingshu­rst’s game against Broadwater CC, which commences at noon.
