Top geographical award for conservationist
Conservationist Isabella Tree of the Knepp Castle Estate at West Grinstead is to be honoured by the Royal Geographical Society.
She will receive the Ness Award for ‘the popularisation of geography through her writing on biodiversity and the relation between humans and the environment.’
Isabella, who with her husband Sir Charles Burrell, has spearheaded a worldrenowned rewilding project at the Knepp Estate, is among 23 people or organisations honoured by the society for their outstanding contribution to geography.
In her book Wilding: The Return of Nature to a British Farm, Isabella recounts the story of the hugely successful Knepp rewilding project.
