Spring’s sprung for ladies

-

Cottesmore’s Ladies’ Section held their annual Spring Meeting last week in sunny conditions, though it was quite chilly for those teeing off early in the 18-hole competition; it was slightly warmer by the time the ladies playing in the 9-hole competition tee-ed off around 11.00am.

The new handicap system meant ladies played off 95% of their course handicap, and most were grateful that the PSI was set up to work out their Stableford points when they finished. There were two ‘Nearest the Pin’ holes for each competition: Charlotte Topping and Jill Lewis won those for the 18 hole competition, and Margaret Brice won both holes in the 9-hole competition.

The winners of the day were: 9-hole Bronze division – Laura Johnson with 18 points, 9-hole Silver division – Julie Lintern with 18, 18-hole Bronze division – Carolyn Angus with 35 and Silver Division and overall winner – Irene Matheson with 37, on countback from Caroline East.

Lady captain Jan Brice presented Irene with her winner’s trophy and took the opportunity to present other trophies recently won.

These were the Easter Greensomes, won by Heather Skinner and her partner, Caroline East, and the Hazel Hooker 3 clubs and a putter, won by Ruth Leatherbarrow.

There was a raffle for the Lady Captain’s chosen charity, the Alzheimer’s Society.
