Construction work is set begin on 51 new homes in Billingshurst.

Bellway said it will build 33 houses for private sale and 18 affordable homes on Woodcroft Park – a 9.5-acre site off Marringdean Road.

The housebuilder acquired the land in January, with planning permission for the site already secured.

A spokesman for Bellway said: “It will be Bellway’s third development in the village in recent years, following Amblehurst Green and The Courtyard, both located off East Street. As part of the planning agreement for the development, Bellway will be providing £641,848 in funding for local facilities and services, including education and transport.

“Contributions will include £175,217 towards the expansion of Weald School, £162,804 towards the expansion of Billingshurst Primary School and £146,874 for transport improvements.”

Money will also be provided for equipment at Weald School Sixth Form, upgrades to Billingshurst Village Hall, fire stations in West Sussex, new equipped play areas and local library improvements, he added.
