Fire at tip in Billingshurst

Firefighters were called to reports of a blaze at Billingshurst tip at 2pm on Monday (May 10). A fire service spokesman said the facility was closed and evacuated and crews wearing breathing apparatus put out the fire. People living nearby were advised to keep doors and windows closed. The tip reopened the following day.
