New website, more of the news that matters to you
The County Times website has come together with its sister titles as part of a brandnew platform – SussexWorld.
I say ‘brand-new’ but that is not entirely true. SussexWorld brings together our existing 16 local news sites that have served every town and village in this fabulous stretch of England for many years.
It is powered by the professional and trusted journalism from our premier range of local newspapers the Crawley Observer, the Worthing Herald and Littlehampton Gazette, and the Chichester Observer series, West Sussex County Times, West Sussex Gazette, Mid Sussex Times, Brighton Indy, Eastbourne Herald and the Hastings Observer series.
This new website will be rich in all your local news as well as essential information, culture and what’s on, sport, fascinating features and key events from across Sussex.
Our home page – which you will reach by typing in sussexworld.co.uk – will carry the biggest news from across Sussex and will be constantly updated.
But look along the index bar at the top and you can drill down very easily to the news where you live.
There are also special sections for key areas of storytelling, such as sport, Brighton & Hove Albion, What’s On, Retro, and Lifestyle.
Please explore the site. We have launched SussexWorld to ensure you not only get your local news but the very best coverage of events outside where you live that you might want to travel to.
We also wanted to give you a much better user experience than was possible with 16 smaller sites. Video and live news reporting will be a key part of SussexWorld – so please tune in to our daily news, weather and sports video bulletins produced by our journalists in Sussex.
But some things won’t change.
We will continue to hold power to account. We will be bold and inquisitive in our reporting and we will invite you to have a say.
One thing that has become clear over the lockdown is that people want news which is open and compassionate, told in a way that doesn’t talk down to readers. You want us to be as proud of the areas where we live and work as you are.
All our local journalists are based in the towns and villages they cover. Many of our reporters are renowned experts in their fields of specialism – everyone from Sussex arts editor Phil Hewitt to Albion correspondent Derren Howard.
We will involve you, our audience, in our journalism, and actively encourage you to shape our reporting on the issues that matter to you.
In difficult times we know that escapism and light relief can be just as vital as hardnosed news.
We will aim to entertain as well as inform, whether that’s through a sharp piece of cultural commentary, an amusing video or a quiz that tests your niche knowledge.
In our Recommended section we will review newly released products and spotlight the latest deals, so you can make informed choices around how to get more for your money.
We hope you’ll stay with us for the journey. Join us on facebook.com/ SussexWorldUK and @ Sussex_World on Twitter – as well as on the County Times social media pages.
