Help Sussex Green Living with ‘free’ money

- Sussex Green Living by Wendy Ashton

Clearly, it’s important for us all to use less of everything for so many reasons – resources are becoming scarcer on our small island – and on our small planet too, with its billions of people. We hope this goes without saying but please only buy something if you need it! When we do need to replace something, however, there are several ways we can help to guide companies to understand that we would like them to ‘go green.’ One of those ways is for us as customers to sign up to Easyfundraising, where there are over 6,000 retailers ready to make a donation – including eBay, Argos, John Lewis, ASOS, Booking. com and M&S – and it won’t cost you a penny extra to help raise funds for Sussex Green Living. All you need to do is: 1. Go to our Sussex Green Living spot at easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ sussexgreenliving/ and join for free.

2. Then whenever you shop online, go to Easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.

3. After you’ve checked out, the retailer will simply make a donation to Sussex Green Living!

There are no catches or hidden charges and Sussex Green Living will be very

grateful for the donations.

Another way to make no-cost donations for Sussex Green Living is with The Giving Machine, which is actually a charity itself, set up to help other charitable causes raise money online.

It covers more than 2,200 retailers, including John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners, Ebay, M&S, Sainsbury and Tui. By signing up and shopping via The Giving Machine you can generate a free cash donation for us at Sussex Green Living to help us run our events online and in person.

For example, we take our Inspiration Eco Station (retrofitted milk float) to schools, events and markets; we organise single use plastic recycling schemes locally; we run the Sussex Green Hub (a monthly community event which includes our Horsham Repair Café, a refill service and other environmental groups offering climate solutions.)

Sussex Green Living is a growing multiaward-winning charity raising awareness of the climate crisis, inspiring the local community to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle, respecting nature and offering solutions to reduce our carbon footprint.

Of course, it’s possible to make a donation at any time without the need to shop! Simply go directly to Sussex Green Living and click the Donate Now button.

Thank you for your support from Carrie and our almost 100 volunteers.
