New logo helps big race mark 40 years

-

Run Barns Green started in 1982 – and to celebrate 40 years of running in Barns Green organisers have unveiled a40th anniversary logo which will be used to promote this special event throughout 2022.

Run Barns Green is made up of three races: a half marathon, a 10k and a new race for youngsters – details about which will be announced soon. Run Barns Green will take place on Sunday, September 25.

Race Director Nigel Currie said: “We are delighted to unveil our special 40th anniversary logo for this year. It is remarkable that the small village of Barns Green has been able to stage such a big event for 40 years.

“It is great testament to the dozens of volunteers and supporters from in and around the village that the event has kept going for so long and grown in stature and reputation. We will be announcing details of our new race for youngsters very soon.”

Run Barns Green was cancelled because of the pandemic in 2020 but went ahead last September when just over 1300 runners registered for the two races.

They follow routes on closed roads through the lanes of Barns Green, Itchingfield, Dragons Green and close to Southwater through some of the area’s most scenic spots.

The race also goes through the magnificent grounds of Christ’s Hospital School and throughout the routes there are live bands playing.

There is plenty of free parking, chip timing for each runner in both races and there are also pacemakers running who will help runners to achieve their target finish time.

As part of its sustainability programme all finishers receive a wooden medal.

Registrations for the race are open now – go to runbarnsgreen.org.uk
