Sam’s the man for Snetteron success
Snetterton provided the backdrop for another winning weekend for Billingshurst racer Sam Osborne in Round 2 of the Thundersport GB Championship.
Sam , 30, riding his Suzuki GX-R 1000 with MSG Racing Suzuki team, won all three races and broke the lap record for the GP1 Sportsman class.
The success sees him leading the GP1 Sportsman Championship, with six out of six wins so far this season.
He’s also running 7th in the GP1 Elite Championship, which races at the same time.
The weekend got off to an excellent start, qualifying in 1st position in class, seventh overall.
In race 1, Sam took the win, and sixth spot overall, after a ‘good, fun race’ in which he also set a new Sportsman lap record.
Next up, in race 2, Sam came first in class again, and eighth overall.
He then broke the Sportsman lap record that he’d just set hmiself.
It was a triple triumph in race 3, with Sam lifting the winning trophy again, and this time making fifth overall.
He set yet another new Sportsman lap record and managed to get into the 1.11 seconds lap time of the four GP1 Elite racers in front of him.
“In race 3, I was chasing my lap timer just trying to get in the 1.11s – I managed on lap 13/15, knocking two seconds off my personal best,” he said.
"I’m so pleased with that, and well happy getting my first top five!
“Thank you to MSG Racing Suzuki who do so much to make it happen for me and to my amazing supporters.”
Not content with his championship spoils, Sam picked up another trophy in the fun Ace of Clubs handicap race, scooping second place behind a GP1 Elite racer.
Now Sam, a carpenter and builder, is looking forward to round 3 at Cadwell Park later this month.
Sam is seeking sponsorship, however small or large, to help keep him on track for the season.
