Father’s Day at RSPB
RSPB Pulborough Brooks is encouraging a day out in nature for Father’s Day (Sunday, June 19) with free challenges and activities.
Come together as a family to have fun with the RSPB’s free Wild Challenge activities, the Bug Safari and Wild Flower Foray.
Roy Newnham, RSPB visitor experience office in Norfolk, said: "As nature blooms enjoy a wild day out with your dad at RSPB Pagham Harbour and Pulborough Brooks nature reserves in Sussex. At RSPB Pulborough Brooks look out for a kaleidoscope of butterflies feasting on the nectar of yellow fleabane and purple knapweed on the zigzag path. And search around the ponds and ditches for darting dragonflies with jewel-like colours - you might just see a hobby swooping in to catch one. After some special family time discovering this reserve and its wildlife together, enjoy some refreshments with your dad at the café.
"The onsite shop also sells a range of Father’s Day gifts to remember your day together - from nature books, to ID guides, clothing, optics, and homes for wildlife to start their own families in too."
The RSPB have revealed the top picks for nature’s best, worst and most embarrassing animal dads, with the red fox winning Most Devoted Dad. The turtle dove won Worst Dad Nest Builder, the nightingale won Best Singing in the Shower Dad due to their ability to sing more than 180 different songs and a male seahorse won Best Birthing Partner – as they are the only male species to give birth.
